Doula Marley Doula Marley
Marley Blunt, Adelaide Hills counsellor and birth doula

Hi, I'm Marley Blunt.

Wife to Tyron, mama to Jamie (5) and Sophie (2) and a heartfelt doula and counsellor who is a lil obsessed with all things pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and motherhood in general!

I had my son in 2021 and, as many of us know, motherhood changes everything about you. I certainly was no different.

A little bit about me.

Being true to my star sign.. we Scorpios are all about deep, vulnerable conversations. I love getting into the nitty-gritty and knowing people on a soul level, which is probably why counselling has always been on my radar. After years of supporting women through birth, moving into a more emotionally focused role felt completely natural.

Without sounding too much like a Bachelor episode, my journey to becoming a doula was rooted in the emotional transformation my own birth brought. If there's one thing we shouldn't have a "go with the flow" attitude towards, it's birth.. yet there I was thinking "naaah, it's just another day of the year." Wrong. Forceps will do that to a girl.

For the last 18 months I've also been nannying and it's not just that I love being around children (though I do!). It's because supporting a mother often means making sure the people she loves most are genuinely well cared for. It has been so lovely supporting families with the mental load and the family unit whilst I finish my studies.

Doula. Counsellor. Mum who gets it.

Now at 33, I work with mothers and families in a few ways! My offerings might vary but they all have one thing in common: supporting the family unit.

I'm currently taking a pause on active birth work, but alongside counselling I'm also offering birth education sessions in person, with a twist. Think less clinical information-download, more emotionally supported preparation. How do you feel about what's coming in parenthood? What are your fears, your concerns? What do you need to walk into that room feeling ready? That's the work we do together. If in person isn't for you, I also have a birth course that sets you up beautifully.

The other side of what I offer is counselling, and this comes from wanting to support women and families not just through birth but through the trickier parts of parenthood and mothering. The relationship strain, the identity shift, the rage that can come from being overstimulated, the disappointment that can follow birth.. nothing is off limits here.

Something I think is really important to say: you do not have to be in the early days to need support. Motherhood is hard at every single stage: the newborn fog, the toddler trenches, the school years, the load that never actually stops. You are always welcome here, regardless of where you're at.

I specialise in supporting mothers who are feeling the strain in their:

  • Relationship: the distance, the resentment, the feeling that you and your partner have become housemates rather than partners.
  • Identity: the grief of not quite recognising yourself anymore, or not knowing who you are outside of "Mum" when you used to hold so many other roles.
  • Pregnancy, postpartum and beyond: anxiety, birth trauma, the transition into motherhood and everything in between.

I truly get it.. not just professionally, but personally.

I know the mental load. I know the relationship strain that you often want to keep quiet. And I know birth trauma; forceps and all.

My approach is compassionate, kind, and completely free of judgement. I'm not here to tell you how to feel or how to fix it. I'm here to sit with you in it and help you find your way through.

Where I work.

Based in the Adelaide Hills, I offer in-person birth education sessions across Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills. Counselling sessions are held online.. currently Saturday mornings between 9 and 12, with more availability opening up soon, for mums and parents anywhere in Australia.
