What I can help with

Some of the spaces we work in together.

  • Identity changes in parenthood

  • Relationship strain

  • Pregnancy flatness

  • Birth trauma and disappointment

  • The mental load

  • Rage and resentment in motherhood

The approach

A space that's just yours.

Motherhood asks more of you than anyone tells you in advance. Your body, your identity, your relationships, the way you sleep, the way you think about yourself.. it's bloody hard work.

Counselling with me isn't about fixing you. There's nothing to fix. It's a slow, honest conversation in a quiet hour of the week, somewhere you don't have to be the calm one, the capable one, the one with answers.

We work with whatever's loudest: birth that didn't go the way you'd imagined, the grief inside the love, the fights you and your partner keep having about who's more tired, the loss of a self you're trying to find your way back to. There's no agenda except yours.

How it works

Designed around the reality of mum life.

Three things make sessions feel different from anywhere else you've looked for support.

01

Currently Saturday mornings

Sessions run between 9-12 on Saturdays. Protected time outside the working week, when someone else can hold the baby without it feeling like a favour. Weekday availability coming in the future.

02

Zoom only

Sessions are held over Zoom at this stage. From your couch, your car, the bedroom with the door shut. Wherever you can find fifty quiet minutes. No childcare to organise, no driving across town.

03

Written summary & action points

After every session you'll receive a written summary of what we worked through and the gentle next steps we agreed on, so nothing important is lost in the fog of motherhood.

Honest pricing, no surprises.

Every session includes the conversation itself plus a written summary with action points, delivered to you afterwards.

Marley, counsellor and doula based in Adelaide

About Marley

Counsellor, doula, mother.. I get it.

I'm Marley. I'm a counsellor and doula based in Adelaide, and I have worked with women through pregnancy, birth and the seasons that follow for five years now. I came to this work the way most of us do, by walking the road myself first.

What I offer in the counselling room is what I know I needed: someone who isn't startled by hard things, who knows postpartum from the inside, and who will sit with you in it without trying to rush you out.

Diploma of Counselling.

Questions you might be holding

Frequently asked.

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with me. Sessions are private. Nothing is reported to your GP unless you ask me to share something.
Is this the same as seeing a psychologist?
Counselling and clinical psychology are different things. If you're navigating diagnosed perinatal depression, anxiety, or birth trauma, I'm happy to work alongside your psychologist or GP, not instead of them.
Can I bring my baby?
Of course. Sessions are held over Zoom, so feed, settle, pace, do whatever you need to. We work around the baby, that's part of why this exists.
Can I claim through Medicare or private health?
Mental-health rebates depend on the practitioner type and your individual cover. Please check directly with Medicare and your private health fund.
What if I need to reschedule?
Life with a baby is unpredictable. Reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice and we'll find another Saturday that works.
How long is a session?
Fifty minutes. Long enough to land in the conversation; short enough that you can usually time it around a feed.
